What do e-tag beeps at toll points mean?
When you pass through the toll point on a toll road your tag sends a message for the toll to be charged to your account.
As a back-up, for instance if you are travelling without your tag, images of your number plate become the message for the toll to be charged to your account. This is called vehicle matching and costs an extra 55c per trip on the M5.
If you haven’t given your tag provider your number plate details you may receive a toll notice. To pay the toll notice using your account there is an additional $1.10 fee for the first toll notice, or $2.20 for a final notice.
